WHAT IS 4 AXIS MACHINING?

Generally, when the workpiece is not positioned in space, there are six degrees of freedom, X, Y, Z three linear displacement degrees of freedom and the corresponding three A, B, C rotational displacement degrees of freedom. Generally speaking, the three-axis machining center we use is to process the objects separately through the three linear axes X, Y, and Z. The four axis is to add the A rotation axis on the basis of the three axis, that is, to process the object on the four degrees of freedom of displacement of X, Y, Z, and A.
4-axis CNC machining and four milling also produce the smooth surface finish that is essential for many manufacturing applications. Despite its utilization of advanced technology, 4-axis CNC machining provides superior results at an extremely affordable price point. This machining process is a preferred choice in the aerospace industry, which is renowned for requiring precise and accurate machining of complex parts.

CLASSIFICATION OF 4-AXIS MACHINING

  1. The machining center is usually divided into a vertical machining center and a horizontal machining center according to the state of the spindle in the space. The spindle of the machining center in the space is called a vertical machining center, and the spindle in the space is called a horizontal state. It is a horizontal machining center. The spindle can be converted vertically and horizontally, which is called vertical and horizontal machining center or five-sided machining center, also called composite machining center.
  2. According to the number of movement coordinates of the machining center and the number of coordinates simultaneously controlled: there are three-axis two-linkage, three-axis three-linkage, 4-axis three-linkage, five-axis 4-linkage, six-axis five-linkage, etc. The three-axis and 4-axis refer to the number of motion coordinates possessed by the machining center, and the linkage refers to the coordinate number that the control system can control the motion at the same time, so as to realize the position and speed control of the tool relative to the workpiece.
  3. According to the number and function of worktables: there are single worktable machining center, double worktable machining center, and multiple worktable machining center.
  4. According to machining accuracy: there are ordinary machining centers and high-precision machining centers. Ordinary machining center, the resolution is 1μm, the maximum feed rate is 15-25m / min, and the positioning accuracy is about l0μm. High-precision machining center with a resolution of 0.1 μm, a maximum feed rate of 15 to 100 m / min, and a positioning accuracy of about 2 μm. Between 2 ~ 10μm, more than ± 5μm can be called precision grade.
